Pesce’s mother had planned to give birth at one hospital but instead she went to another. The first hospital was destroyed. He has been fortunate all his life in Queens. His father, a hardworking, but less fortunate, becomes jealous. When Frank Pesce Jr., played by Danny Aiello), becomes the first New York State Lottery winner, the tension reaches its peak.
3. Finder’s fee
This 2001 drama, directed by Jeff Probst features a man named Tepper (played in this film by Erik Palladino), who finds a wallet on the streets. James Earl Jones plays the owner of the wallet. He discovers that the wallet contains a million-dollar lottery ticket. Tepper’s poker team arrives at his regular game with higher stakes. The question is: What would your plan be with the winning ticket?
4. What if I had a million dollars?
The classic 1932 film tells the story about a steel tycoon (played here by Richard Bennett), who decides that he will give one million dollars each to eight random strangers from the telephone book. He is not only trying to help others, but also to prevent his inheritance from going to his greedy family. An elderly woman, an entertainer and an office clerk are among the lucky recipients. Although these lucky winners didn’t win the lottery, the film shows the impact of their newfound wealth on their lives.
5. Waking Ned Devine
This 1998 independent film stars Jackie O’Shea and Michael O’Sullivan. They learn from Ned Devine (played in the film by Ian Bannen) that a villager has won the lottery. Jackie and Michael visit Ned at his house to find that the millionaire has passed away from shock. Ned must claim the prize according to lottery rules, but the townpeople aren’t willing to part with the money. They decide to join forces and convince the inspector Michael O’Sullivan is actually Ned Devine.
6. You are welcome to me
Kristen Wiig stars in this dark comedy from 2015. It tells the story about Alice Klieg, a young woman suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder. She wins the lottery. Alice, who is elated with her winnings ($86 million), quits taking her psychiatric medication to pay for her talk show. Oprah inspired her. It’s not necessary to say that Alice, fame-hungry, lacks Oprah’s prowess but her misadventures make excellent comedy.
