Oil adulteration: how to understand that cooking oil contains toxic substances

Whether it’s fried potatoes or fish broth, you need oil to cook it. And the oil, no matter how pure it is advertised, contains small amounts of adulteration. Everyone knows this fact. So far, so good. But all the toxins which are currently getting mixed with the cooking oil, which are very harmful for the body. According to the recent data from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), cooking oil contains a toxic substance called TOCP (Tri-Ortho-Creusel-Phosphate). Organophosphorus has been the cause of large-scale poisoning in many cases in the past.

What could be playing with this venom?

At first no symptoms are expected. Experts say that the initial symptoms will appear in 10-20 days after the toxin enters the stomach. There may be pain or paresthesia in the lower abdomen. Then gradually the muscles will weaken. It can also cause paralysis in the lower extremities.

How do you know if oil has TOCP?

Take 2 ml oil in a bowl. This time add a spoonful of turmeric butter. If it does not change the color of the oil, then no toxic substances have been added to the oil. And if the oil turns red, be careful. Don’t eat that oil now.
