Vehicle manufacturing company MG Motor will introduce its second battery-powered electric vehicle (EV) in the country within the next 2 years in the Indian market. According to a top company official, the price of this e-vehicle will be less than Rs 20 lakh. This model will be the company’s second e-vehicle. In the electric vehicle category, MG already has a ZS SUV in India. Its ex-showroom price is between 21 to 24.18 lakhs.
Price will be less than 20 lakhs
Rajeev Chaba, President and MD, MG Motor India, told PTI, “We are very happy with the performance of our EV product so far. We intend to launch more electric vehicles in the market in future. It is expected that the price of the second EV vehicle will be less than Rs 20 lakh. ” Carmakers like Gloster and Hector have so far sold three thousand units of electric vehicle ZS across the country.
Will be launching in 2 years
On the timing of the second e-vehicle to hit the market, Chhaba said, “We are not yet finalizing the timeline due to the COVID situation and the lack of essential materials. So hopefully in 2 years we will be able to do this. Both the government and industry are working on this. The picture will be clear only after the effect of Kovid subsides.
