When you are on road, most of the times you encounter emergency vehicles with flashing lights passing
you. If you are aware what to do when you encounter one, it is a good thing but if you don’t, it’s a good
thing to know.
These vehicles mostly include police cars, ambulance , fire trucks etc .

Know the laws your state have regarding ‘Move Over’ and traffic
Give a thorough look into the laws specified by your region regarding move over . Be aware of every details in the
local guidelines . But in general what one should do is slow down and move over .
When an emergency vehicle approaches from opposite direction
Look for the vehicle and pull over to the side of the road followed by a complete stop . Take in note that you should not pull over at an intersection .
When an emergency vehicle approaches for back
Slow down and pull your vehicle to a particular side giving lane for the emergency vehicle to pass . This would help the traffic to flow without delaying it .
When an emergency vehicle stops
Slow down your car and move into an open lane if possible. If there are more to add to these rule with regards to your state or country then follow them as well. Slowing the vehicle to at least 10 mph under the speed limit while passing a stopped emergency vehicle is a must to be followed for many regions.
Keep safe distance
Even when the emergency vehicle has passed be sure to maintain a safe
distance behind it at least 500 feet
