Cleaning the car by washing it ensures cleanliness from the outside but have you ever thought what happens to the germs which are present inside the car ? The simple answer to this is that the germs stay unharmed and are transmitted to you or anyone else who sits in the car and in turn causes harm to the individual .
To know how you can disinfect the car, the first thing you need to know is the places where the germs and bacteria are commonly found . The steering wheel, gear shifter ,places near the cup holder, switches, door handles – which implies that the places in the car which we touch the most are most likely to have germs and bacterial intrusion.
Some tips which you can follow to control this are as follows –
1. Sanitize your hands frequently while riding the car and if driving ,sanitize your hands every time you stop and get out of your car. Sanitizer’s effects doesn’t last for long as it kills the germs and bacteria on your hand and as soon as you touch any contaminated surface, your hands will again catch germs and bacteria. So it would be helpful if you sanitize the hands every time you touch the surfaces of the car which have a probability of being contaminated .
As for when you are touching the door handles after grabbing your stuffs from the market where you came in contact with a lot of people . Sanitizing the hands before touching the door handles can prevent them from getting contaminated with the germs you got on your hands.
2. Washing the door handles ,window control switches, dashboard etc with any household hard-surface cleaner after you come back home and before you leave home will ensure no bacteria grows in the front parts of the car as these are the most bacteria prone places says Consumer Reports.
3. Cleaning the steering wheel with disinfectants or a cleaning rag helps to keep the steering germ free to some extent.
4. Clean the cup holders and places around it as there can be small crevices which sometimes remain ignored while cleaning and gives room to bacterial growth and germ invasion.
5. Clean any food that you accidentally spill inside the car as the food with time with get stale and invite bacteria and other small insects to litter and feed on it.
6.Use your own bag while you are out buying something and before and after using it, wash it and keep it in a clean and dry place which will prevent bacterial growth. Do not store your bag in the car’s trunk or any moist place which are home to bacteria and germs . Try to avoid reusable bags given by shops as they come in bacterial and germ contact.
