In a world where plastic money has almost replaced cash , credit cards and digital transactions have become the primary form of money transfer and even mega –companies have also started to play with the idea of going completely cashless by accepting only credit cards and mobile apps, most people does not carry cash with them anymore . Going out, what most people carry are phone, ID and credit cards.
But there are a few very important and valid reasons why a person should carry cash with them everywhere and always and here those follows –
- When in a rush or your card breaks –
It is never completely safe to rely on online payment not because of security because they do provide it but because of the server facilities which are not truly reliable and can be swamped any time when you need it the most.
Many times card chips can unexpectedly fail and leaves you in embarrassment as you hold up a line behind you who smears at you angrily.
So, during such situations, carrying cash is the only thing which can act as your lifesaver as you can do the payment with the cash you have.
- A minimum purchase limit on cards –
This is probably one of the most important reasons of keeping cash with you. Most of the stores require a minimum credit card amount as they have to pay some percentage as a fee to process the transaction from the credit card.
Many stores give more importance to the convenience of their customer and absorb the extra charges but if you visit the stores in which there are limit and you don’t have cash with you, you would have to buy stuffs unnecessarily to meet the criteria and spend more than it was needed.
- Parking Charges –
In many places, rather most of the places you have to pay charges for getting a spot for parking and in worst cases, a valet. If you are in a situation where the best thing you get is a valet then it is easy to pay in cash rather than taking any other options.
- Tipping –
You may face situations in restaurants and other places where tipping is a standard and credit card payments for tipping may not be an option. This is a situation where cash payment comes to play.
Simply paying with cash rather than asking for a card processing machine or finding out or asking for the host’s online payment accounts.
- Vending Machines –
Most of the time when you are out and thirsty, you use vending machines for soda or soft drink. Now a days, not only candy bars but there are pizza and other food vending machines too. Yes, many of them accept credit cards now but all of them do not. So, if you are in an area where machines only accept cash then a card should be of no use to you. And as you absolutely need your drink or food, carrying cash is best.
Take care of your safety while carrying cash and obviously do not carry a hefty amount with you.
Just carry as much as needed for making the small payments if necessary in case of emergencies so that you can return home without facing any embarrassments.
