Tata Motors has shared a teaser video of the upcoming UltraZ Turbo Petrol on its social channel. The video was captured in 2021 as ‘turboscharged’, which shows Ultrose in a new color shade that could be called Marina Blue.
The Indian carmaker is likely to unveil the turbo-petrol version of the Altoz in the coming month on 13 January. A 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine is expected to be enabled to develop a 110bhp and 150Nm torque, it can be paired with a DCT unit with an existing five-speed manual gearbox. The current Powertrain available on Ultraz is a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine and a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel motor for a five-speed transmission.
We think the DCT transmission on the upcoming Altroz will be a punch-powertrain to wet-clutch unit as opposed to the dry-unit used in the new i20. To read more about it, tap here. The premium hatchback was launched earlier in January this year and will mark its first anniversary in the coming month. At launch, the Altazo Turbo-Petrol Edition will be pitted face-to-face against the newly launched Hyundai i20 1.0 Turbo DCT, Volkswagen Polo TSI Automatic, Honda Jazz CVT and Maruti Suzuki Baleno CVT.
